Who can join a team?
We have dance teams for lots of ages and different abilities levels too! You don’t have to be an advanced dancer to join a team. Most dancers join teams at a more beginner level and then advance along with their team.
What’s required for team members?
Different teams have different requirements. It’s likely you can find a team that fits your family’s needs. For Hip Hop Crews, dancers can take as little as two classes a week. Dancers competing in Jazz, Contemporary, or Ballet might take between 3 and 6 hours of class each week. (Older, more advanced teams take more. Younger, less advanced teams take less.)
On top of regular classes, dancers should plan on spending one Saturday as a dress rehearsal before competition season starts, and then three weekends in the spring performing at dance competitions. Normally speaking, team dances compete on Saturdays. Typically our competitions are close enough you don’t need a hotel room. This year our three competitions took place in Salt Lake City, Roy, and Eagle Mountain.
Costs
Team dances this year cost $310 per team dance. So to compete on a hip hop crew cost $310 for the year. To compete a jazz dance and a contemporary dance cost $620. These costs include your costume, entry to all three of the competitions, and your team t-shirt. We expect next year’s costs to be similar.
What does your dancer get?
The friendship and camaraderie experienced by our team dancers is unmatched by recreational classes. Team dancers come to know each other, and even dancers on other teams within the studio. It’s not uncommon to have team parties or invite each other to birthday and other special events.
Team dancers are surrounded by others who are more committed to working hard in the classroom and practicing at home. They inspire each other to be their best. Being on a studio team is highly recommended for dancers who may someday want to audition for a high school dance or drill team.
Parents also get to know each other better. They carpool, help move props, bring snacks and cheer for each other’s kids. Our dancers are so lucky to have a whole group of awesome adults pulling for them and supporting them!

Ages 4-6 there is no audition needed. Just email us and let us know you want to join a team. We’ll place your dancer and then hold a parent meeting to get to know each other and go over more details.
