Dance Concepts competition team spent the weekend in sunny St George at Premier Classic Dance Competition!
This was a two day competition with solo, duets and trios starting us off on Friday (after breakfast by the pool of course).
We had three injuries Friday. Lillia contracted so much on stage that she took her own knee to the face and gave herself a bloody nose during her solo. Kathryn fell and had some pretty good road rash on her face and Evyn hit her shin so hard on a concrete bench (not dancing) that we were a little afraid it was broken – it was not – She was in rough shape but pulled it together for her group dances on Saturday.
Friday was also St Patricks day! We had so much fun hiding lucky green buttons that Alina made us on our costumes so we’d have a touch of green with us all day long. Nicole also brought ribbons to save us from pinches!
Even more, it was Lillia’s birthday! Her friends and teammates all sang to her on stage while we waited for awards to begin.
Our two BIG winners on Friday were Ila and June, taking First and Second Overall in the Intermediate Plus Category!

Saturday all of our groups performed. Our BEATS Crew was missing a dancer due to a family funeral so Mr Tom took the stage with them!
We had some quick changes, but our dancers handled them like pros and the rest of the day was smooth sailing.
The final award ceremony also included an improv contest where some of our dancers performed four counts of 8 alone on stage to a song of their choice. Being an improv contest meant they were making it up on the spot! Just take a minute and imagine what that would be like for you. We’re so proud of those that pushed themselves to participate and didn’t let fear hold them back!
After awards we met up at Thunder Junction Park for Lillia’s birthday donuts and to enjoy the last bit of warm weather before heading home.
