October Newsletter

There is a wild amount of information this month, so let’s just get right to it!

Wear Your Halloween Costume to Dance

Dancers are invited to wear your Halloween costume to dance October 24-30th.  We will still be dancing, so make sure you’re prepared for that.  Wear shorts under your costume and bring your dance shoes.  If you have a costume that might be too hot to dance in, consider wearing something else or just be ready in case you want to take it off at some point.

NEW Adult Classes!

We have a new adult class on the schedule!  Come dance with us Monday nights 8:30-9:30 in Sandy.  There’s no dress code, no performances, no pressure.  We’ll do a warmup, stretch and then learn a fun short dance just for that day.  Styles rotate.  Drop in cost is $10.

Dance Concepts Jackets

Ready to start you Christmas shopping?  Just want to be rocking the cutest, softest lightweight jacket around?  Order a DC jacket!  Jackets are $55 and are available with a bow on the logo or not.   They run on the smaller side.   We recommend trying one on at the studio if you’re unsure on sizes.  Orders are due October 16th.  You can also opt to have your name added to your jacket.

Word of the Month

Our word of the month is Responsibility.  We’ll be working on being responsible for bringing everything we need with us to class, being responsible for reviewing choreography outside of class, and being responsible for the commitments we’ve made, even when it seems hard.   Ask your dancer to share something they were responsible for today.

TNT Dance Clinic

New this year we’re offering Saturday TNT clinics!  TNT stands for Technique and Tricks.  On select Saturdays we will hold a two hour clinic, broken up into classes by ability level and age. We will focus on foundational technique and then teach you how to build off that foundation to take your dancing to the next level! Want to nail a complicated turn sequence? Want to learn how to use your flexibility for higher jumps and straighter legs? Come to TNT clinics to make your dancing EXPLODE!

Our first clinic is October 14th, 10:00-12:00 in Sandy.  Beginning dancers will get one our of technique and one hour of flexibility focus!  Intermediate/Advanced dancers will get one our of technique and one our of specialty jumps and turns including skater turns, leg hold turns, quad turns, turning leaps. Firebirds, Russian leaps, and hook jumps.

Clinics are open to all dancers so make sure and bring your friends! It’s only $20 for two hours of invaluable learning. Clinics can also count as make-up classes for absences for competition team members.

Next Clinic: November 11.
