Join our competition Team

Dance Concepts offers five different levels of technical competition dance teams, and three levels of Hip Hop crews.  Technical teams have the option of competing in Jazz, Contemporary and/or Ballet.  Team dancers get extra performance opportunities beyond the two recitals we put on each year.  Our team attends three competitions year on weekends in the spring and occasionally performs at community events.

Dance Concepts competition team dancers perform at a higher level than other classes their same age.  This is in part because of the extra stage time they get each year, and in part because they are in classes with dancers who are more dedicated to becoming their very best.

Dance Concepts creates a safe and friendly environment for kids to learn, grow, feel safe, and have fun. There are no Crazy “Dance Moms” situations here! DC ensures that all children, parents, and instructors are respected and treated with courtesy and fairness. The owner and instructors know all the dancers’ names and are always so excited and open to talk to the dancers whenever they are around. Dance Concepts cares about their students and wants them to have fun, be safe, learn dance and grow as individuals. My child dances at this studio 5 hours a week and does a competition solo on her own time with an instructor. DC has helped my child overcome insecurities and really thrive as a dancer.

We have been at dance concepts for 8 years. They have become another family to us. The teachers are all so amazing and push the kids to be better versions of themselves, they are encouraging and so positive.
This is our fifth year at Dance Concepts and we absolutely love it. The teachers have been a positive influence to our girls. Joining the competition teams has been the best experience for our two dancers. They have made great friendships and they love going to dance classes. Team Commitment

Depending on team placement dancers are required to take between 2 and 5 classes a week.  Many team dancers opt to do even more than that.  Competition team dancers serve as examples to the rest of the studio and are expected to have excellent attendance, be in dress code, and take class with a strong work ethic.  

Competitions take place in the spring.  Most typically team dances compete on Saturdays and you’ll need to block out the entire day.  We normally attend one competition that requires local travel including at least one night in a hotel (e.g. St Geroge).

Beyond tuition, each team dance costs around $250.  This includes your entry fee to the competition and your costume.

How to Join a Team

Dancers ages 5 and up are invited to audition for placement.  If you missed auditions and would still like to be considered for a team, we’re happy to have you come to an evaluation class.  Email us at info@danceconceptsutah.com to set one up.
