Word of the Month: Engage!

When students are more engaged in their dance classes, they have more fun, and they make greater progress. I’ve found this to be true in my own life, too. The more deeply I engage with something, the more I enjoy it. A book, a class, a sport, a community, even a meal. They are all better when I engage with them more!

Our level of engagement is a choice we can make. Choosing to engage more is a great habit for all of us to work on.

Holidays

The dance studio will be open Presidents Day, Monday, February 16th.

We don’t want our Monday classes to be shorted, so we’ll be holding classes.

It’s especially important for our competition team members to be in ALL their classes as we approach dress rehearsals and our first competition!

February Solo Clinics

With competitions starting soon, Ali and Blakelee will be holding a Solo Round up clinic! This will be for any interested soloists. This will be a chance to practice your solo, receive teacher feedback, build confidence, and studio camaraderie.

Soloists will be split into small groups where they will take turns performing. Groups will rotate between teachers and the come together at the end of the session to perform for everyone! Expect to perform your solo a total of 3-4 complete times and to receive a small score sheet from Miss Ali and Miss Blakelee.

This clinic is open to ALL soloists regardless of your solo teacher, but space is limited. Please register DIRECTLY with either Ali or Blakelee. Their contact info can be found below.

The clinic will be held Friday, February 13th @ 10:00am (There is a potential second option starting at 12 pm, depending on how many register). The price is $20, payment and registration will be handled directly with Miss Ali and/or Miss Blakelee.

Miss Ali: (801) 633-2451

Miss Blaklee: (801) 688-6361

Dancer of the Month

Dancer of the Month

Our Student of the month is… Abby Edwards!

Heres what her teachers had to say:

“Abby works so hard in my class. She is positive, she takes corrections, and she is for sure a leader. She is kind and makes me feel like the effort I put in to planning class was time well spent. That means a lot.” – Miss Marisa

“Abby stepped up in the leader department. Really showing up with her attitude for her team and being positive collectively and individually with teammates.” – Miss Blaklee

“Abby has been a great little teachers assistant for me this year, She always has a cheery, positive attitude, and is a good example to her team! I love the woman Abby is growing into” – Miss Ali

Competition Team Dress Rehearsals

Team Dress Rehearsal is February 21st at the dance studio!

Both parents AND dancers should plan on being at the parent meeting held during dress rehearsals. You can find the full schedule back in the January Newsletter.

Solo Dress Rehearsal is February 20th at the studio

To participate in solo dress rehearsal dancers must sign up for their time slot in advance.  Time slots are open now!  You can register for yours in your Parent Portal under “Events” or the front desk can get you registered.

Solo dress rehearsal is not required but strongly recommended for all solos/duets/trio (duets/trios only need to sign up for one time slot).
