Holiday Recital!

If you haven’t heard, our holiday recital has a Grinch theme!  The show will be more fun for you if you’ve seen the movie, so pop some popcorn this weekend and enjoy this Christmas classic!  (We’re primarily pulling from the Jim Carrey version that came out in 2000 – rated PG.)

Our show is being held at Hillcrest Junior High School, (don’t confuse it with Hillcrest High School!) on December 17th.  There are shows at 4:00 and 6:00.  Most dancers are in just one of the shows.  You can check which you’re scheduled for on the blog or you can always email us.

Dancers should arrive 30 minutes before their show starts and check in backstage.  They will then remain backstage until the end of the show.  You should have received a note with instructions for your class’s hair and makeup.  Come with those already done.  We’ll bring your costume to the school for you and you’ll change there when you arrive.

To help our dancers learn appropriate theatre etiquette, we ask that all audience members stay for the entire show.  Plan on about an hour.  Performers will stay backstage until the show is over and can then be picked up from their dressing room.  Most dressing rooms are designated female only, so it’s easiest if Mom can come do the pickup, but our staff is happy to help if that’s not possible.  Boys will have a separate room to change in.

Tickets are on sale at the front desk now.  They are $7 if you buy them by December 15th and $10 after that.  All audience members ages 3 and up will need a ticket.  Dancers do not need a ticket.

Flower bouquets will be available for purchase at the show for $5 and $12.

Christmas Break

Yes, we have classes the Monday after our holiday recital!  This is because so many holidays fall on Mondays and we want to make sure our dancers get all of their classes in.  Our Christmas break is December 20th through January 2nd.  Classes resume on January 3rd, just like schools.

It’s especially important for competition team members to be in class this month.  It’s our goal for everyone to know their dances before we break for Christmas.

Stockings

Christmas stockings are up at both studios.  You are welcome to make use of them if you’d like to leave a small gift or note for your teachers.  If you do, be sure to put your name on it so we know who it’s from!

Also, we LOVE seeing your family Christmas cards.  Don’t feel shy about sending them to the studio or stuffing them into stockings!
