Competition Teams

Welcome to our 2024 Competition Dance Teams!

Below, you’ll find your team requirements.  We’ve tried to make it as clear as possible, but if it’s your first year on the team, it’s likely you’ll still have questions.  We’re happy to help you design your schedule.  Email us if you’d like some assistance.

Mini Team

Dancers on this team are required to take a minimum of 3 hours of class a week.  Our recommended schedule for this team is:

  • Tues 4:30-5:30 Demi Ballet Co
  • Tues 5:30-6:30 Freshman Crew
  • Wed 4:30-5:30 Jazz Choreography
  • Wed 5:30-6:30 Mini Tech (required)

This recommended schedule includes 3 performance classes (Hip Hop, Jazz and Ballet).  You are not required to compete all three and can remove any of them as long as you keep the minimum 3 required hours for your team.

The Mini team technique class is required.  There is not a competition dance for this class.  Instead, this is where we will work on the skills we need to become better dancers.

Optional Classes

The top optional class for this group is tumbling.  If you need some other options because the schedule is not working for you, please shoot us an email and we’ll see what we can work out for your specific needs.

Dress Code

Tuesdays: If you are in Demi Ballet Company you need to be in a leotard, light pink tights, light pink ballet shoes and have your  hair in a bun.  You may choose your leotard color.    If you are also in Freshman Crew, please bring hip hop clothing you can wear over top of your ballet clothing so you don’t have to go to the bathroom to change. All dancers on Freshman Crew need to be in sneakers.

Wednesdays: For Jazz, all dancers need to be in tight fitting dance clothes. Skin tight.  This could include leotards, leggings, spandex shorts and/or sports bras.  No t-shirts or loose fitting tank tops. Tan jazz shoes. Your hair needs to be neatly up in a bun, ponytail or braid. The same goes for Jazz technique.

Thursdays:  For tumbling you need tight fitting dance clothes. Bare feet. Hair up.

Prodigy Team

Dancers on this team are required to take a minimum of 4 hours of class a week.  We’re thrilled that so many dancers on this team are wanting to compete in more genres.  We’ve decided to add a Contemporary option, and combined it with Jazz because three full classes in a row can be a lot at this age.  If you’re wanting to compete in just one or the other, email us and we’ll work something out for you. Our recommended schedule for this team is:

  • Mon 4:30-5:30 Ballet Tech (required)
  • Tues 4:30-5:30 Demi Ballet Co
  • Tues 5:30-6:30 Freshman Crew
  • Wed 4:30-5:30 Jazz Tech (required)
  • Wed 5:30-7:00 Jazz and Contemp Choreography

This recommended schedule includes 4 performance classes ( Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Ballet).   You can remove any of these as long as you keep up your minimum of 4 hours/week and take your two required technique classes.

You do not learn dances to compete in your technique classes.  We use those to work on beautiful kicks, higher leaps and better turns

Optional Classes

The best add on to the above schedule for dancers on this team is a tumbling class.

You may register for intermediate tumbling if you can bridge down from standing without a spot.  Otherwise register for beginning tumbling.

Dress Code

Monday: All dancers need to be in a leotard, light pink tights, light pink ballet shoes and have your hair in a bun. You may choose your leotard color.

This could include leotards, leggings, spandex shorts and/or sports bras. No t-shirts or loose fitting tank tops.  Your hair needs to be neatly up in a bun, ponytail or braid.Tan jazz shoes.
