Classic Dance Competition Schedule

Here is the info for this weekend!

Admission to this competition is $5 on Friday and $7 on Saturday for siblings and anyone not performing.  It’s generally faster and easier if you bring cash. 

There is NO FOOD OR DRINK allowed in the dressing room.  You can eat in the hallways because they are tiled, but no food or drink allowed on carpeted areas.

Improv Contest!

Before awards on Saturday dancers are invited to perform in an improv contest!  This can be so much fun and we’d love to see ALL of our team members participate. Entry cost is $10.  Register at the admissions table. Don’t forget to bring your preferred dance shoes as well as a cute dance outfit!

When You Arrive:

We had a little confusion last competition about what to do when you get to the school.  That’s on me for not communicating it better.  This competition when you arrive:

  • Get a wrist band/hand stamp or whatever they are using for admission
  • Come find our dressing room
  • If your dancer is young enough to need supervision, please stay in the dressing room with us until it is time for our whole class to go backstage together.  Stay with us as we stretch and run through the dance.
  • If your dancer is at the competition with a male parent who can’t be in the dressing room, or if you need to leave for some reason, please coordinate with a parent you trust and/or let our staff know so we can introduce you to a trustworthy parent. 
  • Let your dancer know in advance that you’ll meet them back in the dressing room a few minutes after they finish performing.
  • We’ll bring the class back to the dressing room to meet up with you.

Soloists:  The competition has stressed many times that they may run early and that you should be prepared to dance a full half hour before your scheduled time.  If they finish early, they will run awards early.

Mini: If you are in Send In the Clowns, you may leave the school afterward, but you need to be back and ready for Beautiful Dirty Rich at 12:40.  There is NOT enough time for you to leave the school between Jazz and Hip Hop.

Prodigy: If you are in The Bomb and Send In The Clowns, be ready for a quick hair and costume change.  You can leave the school before Hip Hop but you need to be back and ready to go at 3:00 if you are in Kung Fu Fighting.

Ascend:  We’ll use a high bun for Landslide again this competition. 

If you are in Purse First AND Waltz of the Fairies, be ready to make that hair change quickly.

Between Landslide and your hip hop dance, you may leave the school but remember to be back and ready to go at 3:00.

Junior Elite: If you are in Cosmic Love AND Men In Black, you may leave the school in between but remember you need to be back and ready to go at 3:00.

Seniors: This is probably the best schedule you’ll get this year!  It’s going to be great!  Bring food you know you can count on and make sure you stay warm or re-warm up as needed.  Remember phones aren’t allowed once we’re 90 minutes from performing. 

If you are not in Man of LaMancha, and you leave the school after Locomotion for lunch, you need to be back and ready to go at 11:40 – that’s only an hour, so you might be better off asking a parent to bring you food.  Don’t do things that will cause you or your teammates stress.

Dance Times:

The times listed above are the times we expect your dancer to perform.  This competition has stressed many times that they may run early.  If you are late, it puts extra stress on the rest of your teammates and teacher.
