January Newsletter 2021

I love the new year!  I love being back in classes, seeing all of the cute new dance outfits Santa delivered, and I love new years resolutions.  One of my personal resolutions is to practice guitar 200 hours this year.  I’m a beginner, and just like with dance, I know I won’t get better unless I’m putting in the effort.

Upcoming Holidays

We are OPEN on MLK day and Presidents day with classes as normal.

Costume Fees

Costume fees for our spring recital are charged on January 15th.  These are the costumes that you’ll wear for picture day and the ones you get to keep at the end of the year.  Costumes are $65 for classes ages 3-6 and $75 for older classes.

Pre-Season Competition

Our general competition season doesn’t start until March, but a few of our soloists have signed up for an early competition later this month.  On January 23rd they will take the stage in Riverton to see how their solos stack up.  These dancers have been putting in extra time on weekends and over the holiday break to be ready to perform. Wish them luck as the represent DC!

New Button

Our new button for this quarter is the Bridge Kickover button.  To earn this button you must be able to go into a bridge from standing, and then kick your legs over top to end standing again.  Dancers can still be working on their flexibility buttons as well!

Competition Team

Two important notes this month

First, the remainder of your competition fees are due January 7th.

Second, we have sample sizes of our team t-shirts at the desk.  Please stop by and let us know what you would like for your dancer.  You can choose between a relaxed fit t-shirt, or a tight fitting tank top that is appropriate to wear to class.  You can also check out the adult sizes if you ordered a shirt for yourself.

Dance Class Etiquette

January is always a good time to recommit to being our best.  Miss Blakelee found this cute video reminding us of how to use our best etiquette in dance class.  If your dancer is 7 or older, we recommend having them watch it with you.

Have a great month!  If you see me in the studio, ask me if I’ve practiced guitar, or tell me about your New Year’s resolution!
