Picture Day FAQ

Do I have to pre-order?

Yes.  The photographer will not shoot any dancers who are not pre-ordered.

What is the deadline for ordering:

May 10th at 6:00pm

What if I don’t want to buy pictures?

We would still love to have you come and be in the group shots!  We use them in these emails and on the walls at the studio and want you to be a part of it.  If you want to be in your group shot, but don’t want to purchase pictures, you still need to register and sign a waiver before picture day but there is no charge.

What if I want to buy pictures, but I can’t make my assigned time?

Email us first.  We can normally find another time for you to come in and can even have you photoshopped into your group photo.  If you can’t make any of the times we have available, our photographer can schedule a makeup for you.

What do I wear?  How do I do my hair?

Wear your recital costume, recital tights, and recital shoes.  Check the note included with your costume if you’re not sure.  Still not sure?  Shoot us an email!

Hair and makeup are up to you for picture day.  You do not need to style the the same way as you do for recital.  Most of our older dancers prefer to wear their hair styled down for pictures, but will wear a bun in the recital.  Some light makeup can look great on picture day, but we recommend keeping it lighter than you would for stage.  Just your bare face is great as well.

Other Tips:

  • Stay away from temporary tattoos in the days leading up to picture day
  • Nail polish will show up in your picture – we suggest taking it off
  • Super glossy lips don’t tend to photograph well
  • If you have leather shoes, run a damp cloth or baby wipe over them so they look their best
  • Ballet shoe ties should be tucked into the shoe
  • If you’re dancing in half soles we normally take them off for pictures – come with your feet looking good (clean, no chipped polish)
  • Competition team soloists may want to bring any trophies they won this year to include in their shoot
  • Competition team dancers should bring their earrings

What to do if you’re in more than one dance:

If you’re in more than one dance and have more than one costume that you want to take your picture in you only need to order ONE package. Select your package and then use the “add a pose” to add as many extra shots as you need for your extra outfits. When you check in on picture day, you’ll let them know which dances those extra poses are for.
