Competition Team Hotel Information

We have our hotels blocked off for this year’s competitions! As always, it’s fun to stay with the group, but you are not required to.  If you have other accommodations available to you please feel free to use them.  All families are responsible for calling and making their own reservations.  These cities will be FULL these weekends so please do so sooner rather than later (like right now!) Ballet Master Class with Edward Ellison

The University of Utah is offering a ballet master class on Saturday November 10th featuring renowned dancer, teacher and choreographer Edward Ellison. Edward has been associated with many prominent ballet companies including the American Ballet Theatre, Houston Ballet, Julliard and the the Norwegian National Ballet. This is a great opportunity for any intermediate/advanced level ballet student who is looking to challenge themselves and advance their skills.  We recommend this class for dancers who are currently in either Level 4 or Level 5 Ballet. Odyssey Dance’s Thriller

It’s an oddity living in the Utah dance world, but up until this past weekend I had never seen Odyssey’s production of Thriller.  I finally changed that Saturday night.  I didn’t realize what a cult classic it had become in Salt Lake but as soon as the lights went out you could feel the excitement in the audience. Young Ballet Soloists

Dancers on our competition team have the option of performing a solo and competing it against other soloist their age.  This year I’m working with my youngest soloist ever.  Vienna is just 5 years old and is working on a classical ballet piece. Classical ballet variations require a combination of technique, poise, and depending on the variation, style or character portrayal.  The Youth America Grand Prix is the premier ballet competition in the United States.  I was going to suggest Vienna watch some of the videos of the soloists from that competition as good examples to aspire to and I realized that you may enjoy them too.
