Recital Order

One important thing all dancers learn is how to prepare themselves for quick changes.  Perhaps  the most well known quick changes takes place in the Nutcracker.  Clara (the little girl who receives the Nutcracker as a Christmas gift) is sent to bed at the end of the party, only to reappear less than a minute later in her nightgown.  To the audience, the speeding up of time seems normal.  We watch it in theater and movies all the time.  It’s the only way to fit a story that is weeks or years long into an hour or two.  What the audience doesn’t see is the dancer who is playing Clara furiously scrambling to get her costume and maybe even shoes changed and be back onstage calm and ready for her next scene. Next week at the recital you’ll notice quite a few dancers who are in multiple dances.  In addition to their performances under the lights, they will be exercising skill and organization off stage as they lay out their costumes and accessories and plan and prepare to be ready for each dance as it comes up.  To help all of our dancers plan in advance here is the order of both of the shows.  If you have more than one dance please be prepared! Dress Rehearsal Schedule

Dress rehearsal is a great opportunity for dancers to get more comfortable on the stage before the big show. It also allows you to see what your dancer’s hair and makeup will look like on stage so you can make any adjustments if needed. Dress rehearsal is Monday, June 4th at Murray High School (5440 S. State Street) For dress rehearsal dancers should arrive in their costume with their hair and makeup done. When you get to the school, go find a seat in the audience. We will call you backstage when it is your class's turn. Below you’ll find the times that each dance needs to arrive at dress rehearsal (please note it is their arrival time, not their performance time). Older dancers who need to stretch and warm up should arrive a little earlier than listed, however we will not be allowed in the school prior to 5:15. (more…)
